What is Iyengar Yoga?
yoga preformed slowly and carefully

Iyengar Yoga follows the teachings of the late great Bellur Krishnamachar Sundararaja (BKS) Iyengar who dedicated his life to the study of yoga, making it accessible to all. He maintained a strict standard of teaching and shared his knowledge with Iyengar teachers
Iyengar yoga is usually preformed slowly and carefully with emphasis on correct alignment to insure the student always enters into the pose safely.
One of the distinguishing features of Iyengar yoga is the use of props to help those students who are stiff or injured.
What to expect at
an iyengar yoga class
When attending a yoga class, please remember to wear clothing that allows you to move freely in bare feet. Both studios where Wendy teaches are fully equipped so no mat or other equipment is needed. However, if you prefer your own mat you can of course bring it. The classes usually last 90 minutes and consist of a carefully thought out sequence of postures (asanas) which changes with each class. Wendy teaches two classes – both at a general level where beginners are always welcome.
